Knots 3D - Frequently Asked Questions

Pretty Much Everything You Need to Know

  1. Does Knots 3D require an internet connection?

Knots 3D mobile app is completely self contained and does not require internet access.

  2. What permissions are required to run the Knots 3D app?

Knots 3D requires absolutely no permissions to run on any of our supported platforms.

  3. What platforms (operating systems) and devices are supported?

    iOS

Knots 3D currently works on any Apple device (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) that runs iOS 12.0 or later and is available from the iTunes App Store.

    Android

Knots 3D currently works on nearly all Android devices running versions 5.1 and up. Knots 3D is available for Android at Google Play. The Amazon Appstore is no longer supported as of 4/26/2024.

  4. When will there be a Desktop version of Knots 3D?

Currently Knots 3D and many other iphone and iPad apps can be downloaded and run on Apple Silicon Macs with the M1 chip or newer. Go to the Mac App Store listing and click the download icon. If you have already purchased Knots 3D on iOS, you will not be charged again. Alternatively, Search for "Knots 3D" in the Mac App Store. It will be listed under the 'iPhone & iPad Apps' tab. There are no plans to support a desktop version for Windows at this time.

  5. What is the difference between the free web version and the paid mobile app versions of Knots 3D?

The biggest difference is the web version of Knots 3D requires an internet connection while the mobile versions purchased from the app store are completely self contained and no internet is required. Since you often don't have internet access when you are fishing, climbing, camping or other instances you might want to tie or learn a knot, we recommend going with the mobile versions! The web version works well on desktop browsers while the mobile versions are optimized for phones and tablets and have touch interaction with the knot on screen. The app version has higher quality graphics, more features and more knots (118 web vs 190+ app).

  6. I deleted Knots 3D from my device. How can I get it back on my phone or tablet without having to pay for it again?

Once you've purchased the Knots 3D app, you shouldn't ever have to purchase it again. However, you will need to remember what app store you purchased it from and what username and password you used. Once you have succesfully logged in with your username, simply go the Knots 3D app page and re-install it to your phone or tablet. You should not be asked to buy it again if it is the same account (username) that was used for the original purchase.

App stores where you might have purchased Knots 3D originally include: Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

  7. I just bought a new phone. How can I transfer Knots 3D to a new device?

The process is the same as if it was accidentally deleted (see above). As long as you use the same account (username) as you used to originally purchase Knots 3D, you should be able to re-download Knots 3D to the new device without charge.

  8. Can I put a copy of Knots 3D on my tablet if I already have it installed on my phone?

Yes! You can install it on any device where you have an app store account.

For example, if you have an iPhone, and iPad and an iPod Touch and you use the same Apple ID on all three, you can use Knots 3d on all three devices... At the same time if you want!

  9. My old phone was an Android but my new phone is an iPhone (or vice versa). Is there a way to transfer my purchase between ecosystems?

Unfortunately, no. Apps are purchased through the respective app stores and there is no way to transfer purchases to another store. HOWEVER, We don't think you should have to purchase Knots 3D twice just because you got a new phone. We have a few options available to us. Contact us for more information.

  10. I purchased Knots 3D from Google Play but it won't install or the app won't launch after install.

The download and install process is completely controlled by the respective app stores -- in this case Google Play. Typically something is going on with the Google Play website that causes problems with the Knots 3D apk download. The majority of these problems are resolved by removing the app from your device and waiting for a few hours and trying again. If this hasn't resolved the problem within 24 hours, please contact Google Play Support for assistance.

  11. I sent an email suggesting a new knot that isn't currently in the app. When will my knot be added?

We track every suggestion for a new knot and add it to our User Suggestions page. Hundreds of knots have been suggested and we review the suggestions periodically to see what features and new knots to add to the app. We can't promise if or when your favorite knot will be added, but we appreciate the feedback, and use it when we evaluate what knots to add next.

  12. I am not happy with my purchase. How can I get a refund?

We are glad this isn't really a frequently asked question, but if Knots 3D didn't meet your expectations we are happy to issue a full refund. Each app store handles refunds differently. Please follow the appropriate steps below based on where you purchased Knots 3D.

    Google Play

We have the ability to issues refunds ourselves on Google Play and would be happy to issue a full refund if Knots 3D did not meet your expectations. Please send us the order number from your purchase of Knots 3D and we will issue a refund back to your Google Play account. The order number should be in an email receipt or in your Google Play purchase history. It will be a number that looks something like GPA.1234-5678-1234-56789. Once we have the number, we can issue a full refund to your Google Play account.

    Apple

Apple does not allow developers to issue refunds ourselves. You have to request a refund directly from Apple Support and have a valid reason for the request. This is primarily meant for cases where you bought Knots 3D by accident or it doesn't work. It's not meant to be a way to get free trials or short term use. Steps to request a refund from Apple are outlined here: How to request a refund.
