Description
The West Country Shear Lashing is an excellent choice for constructing a very long pole from shorter spars. (e.g. a flagpole).
Structure
The West Country Lashing is made up of a series of Overhand Knots. It is finished with a Square Knot (Reef Knot).
Strength/Reliability
West Country Lashing is very strong and can be used nearly anywhere you would use a Round Lashing.
Common Uses
- join two poles end-to-end to make one longer pole.
- extend a flagpole, mast, or reach pole using a second piece.
- repair a broken pole by lashing a second one alongside it.
- build a flagpole or mast by lashing poles together end-to-end.
