Whipping Knots
How to tie whipping knots.
Whipping is a fundamental ropework technique used to preserve the integrity of a rope by tightly binding its end with strong twine or thread. This process creates a secure wrapping—called a whipping—that prevents the rope's fibers from fraying or unraveling during use. Whipping knots are especially important for natural fiber ropes, which are more prone to fraying than synthetic ropes.
