Woodland Zip-tie
( Bedroll Knot | Cow Hitch Lock Knot )
Usage
The Woodland Zip-tie is a useful binding knot for tying up tarps, sleeping bags, or other types of rolled material. It maintains tension as it is cinched tighter, even when the working ends are released.
Common Uses
- bind two objects together with a cinching cord that locks tight.
- secure a bundle of sticks, poles, or branches in the field.
- make a reusable rope tie that grips like a plastic zip-tie (cable tie).
- fasten gear to a pack, rack, or frame with a locking binding.
- compress a sleeping bag, air mattress, or bedroll for compact storage or transport.
- cinch a bundle of sticks or pipes tight like a zip tie.
- strap a bag, crate, or cargo to a bicycle rack or scooter carrier.

Structure
The Woodland Zip-tie is based on a Cow Hitch (aka Lark's Head) where the Cow Hitch is formed and then the working ends are passed around an object and then back through the loops of the Cow Hitch. When the working ends are pulled, it causes the cow hitch loops to constrict and maintain tension on the working ends.
