Usage
The Surgeon's Knot is commonly used in fly fishing to join two lines. It is simple and quick to tie and can be used for lines with either equal or unequal diameters.
Common Uses
- join two sections of fishing leader (monofilament or fluorocarbon) in fly fishing.
- attach a thinner tippet to a heavier leader.

Structure
Despite the same name, the fishing version of the Surgeon's Knot is used as a bend and is structurally different than the one used for surgery, which is a binding knot.
